New Hampshire’s suicide rate rose 48% from 1999 to 2016 compared to 25% nationally according to the CDC. Only North Dakota at 58% and Vermont at 49% fared worse than New Hampshire. More than half of people who died by suicide did not have a known mental health condition. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States.
