An interesting article the Psychiatric Times by Steven A. King, MD, MS. There is growing evidence that not all opioid overdoses are accidental. In some cases, opioids are used to end one’s life due to chronic pain. Therefore, it is important that patients with chronic pain (especially when prescribed opioids) be carefully monitor for suicide risk. It is also a call for the medical community to rethink and improve chronic pain care.
